Instructor: Kathy Ide   Students of this course have said:   A great course, highly recommended. I was a bit taken back at first having to submit my homework to a group of people I don’t know. However, I did enjoy this method and the class interaction that occurred as a result. I like how the instructor explained things to look for when proofreading or copyediting. She did a very good job of giving us the basics along with some details. I know that I will refer to these course notes often as I begin my proofreading business. Since the assignments were optional, it took the pressure off to submit them all. But for those who are new to this type of work and need to grasp/learn as much as possible, doing most of the assignments gave us that opportunity. The first two lessons’ assignments really made you think about what you wanted to do as well as pushed your creative ability to come up with a promotional piece that you could use later on. It gave me a lot of “food for thought,” helping me realize that I will need to revamp my Web site and do some focused advertising. Thanks, Kathy, for being a great teacher and editor of our work. I am thankful I had the opportunity to be a part of this class. -- Pamela Carmichael   I wasn't sure what to expect, never having taken this sort of class before, but I was not disappointed at all. The lessons were in depth, detailed, and gave good examples, making the material easy to understand. The tuition is very reasonable for the material covered and the level of feedback on the assignments. It's like having a one-on-one tutor in editing. The number of optional assignments gave me a good variety to choose from when I was pressed for time, and also offered a solid challenge. The material was presented very clearly and I felt confident asking questions if I didn't understand something, a real plus in a class like this. I liked the personal responses to the lessons so that I could go back and improve upon what I'd done. The interaction with others, seeing everyone's assignments and Kathy's responses to them, was really helpful to me. Loved the class, and I will return for future ones. The course is stellar, and I'll be recommending it to anyone interested not only in editing but in improving their chances at publication. -- Mary Schneider   The lessons in the Copyediting and Proofreading class exceeded my expectations.
