Books have always been my friends! I'm grateful that after walking with the Lord for 34 years, His path for me now is to help others to bring their dreams of book projects into reality.

My experience of proofreading and editing has been in the areas of books, university graduate papers and dissertations, along with Web sites, brochures, training manuals, and projects for churches. In addition, I have also worked professionally as a proofreader for an advertising agency.

I now desire to focus on book projects, ministries and mission work that will have an impact on the kingdom.

Nancy Lewis

Mountain Home, Arkansas

I was an English major years ago, and I have been distressed at the lack of English and grammar skills which seem to be proliferating currently.  I am an avid reader.  My careers have included Administrative Assistant, Office Coordinator, Director of Medical Records (now called Health Information Management), and owner of a Christian bookstore.  I am originally from Texas and have lived in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Louisiana, and Arkansas.  This is an exciting time to be alive as we see prophetic events play out in headlines each day and realize that Jesus' return is closer with every passing moment.

Julie Link

Carmel, IN

I hold a B.A. in English and French. As an avid reader and lexiphile, I am distressed by good ideas that are lost in bad writing. Excellent ideas should be presented excellently; hence the name “Efficax Editing.” “Efficax” is Latin for “effective”; my mission is to help writers communicate their ideas in the most effective manner possible. My first love is editing expository wri ting on biblical topics, but I offer proficiency in editing most non-fiction genres. I have edited one published work, Fly with Me on Wings of Hope.

Maureen B. McClain
Sanger, Texas

I write the devotionals published each year by Barefoot Ministries for teen Bible quizzing. I've also had nonfiction articles published in Christian magazines and in World Radio, an amateur radio magazine, as well as a middle-grade novel published through Becaon Hill. I began writing when God told me to use the gift He had given me; I have moved into copyediting as I realized that He gave me a gift for that also. For ten years I've edited on an informal basis for other writers, but I recently made it official by organizing Assurance Editing Services.

Virginia ("Ginny") Merritt

Edmeston, NY

My editing experience began as a proofreader at Reader's Digest after graduating from The King's College with a degree in English literature. Since then I have edited essays, letters and fiction pieces. While I am first a homemaker and pastor's wife, writing is woven into every facet of my life. I have been writing primarily to enrich our ministry through Bible studies, curriculum and drama. My children's book, A Ram for Isaac, is soon to be published by BJU Press. My interest now focuses on proofreading and editing fiction and nonfiction works at the rate of $20 per hour.

Christina Miller
Huntingburg, Indiana

One of my most poignant memories is the time I spent on "editor's row" at a major writing conference years ago. As many of the writers filed in and out of their editor and agent appointments, their tears showed that the meetings hadn't gone as they'd hoped. I then felt God's leading to become an editor, encourager, and mentor to aspiring authors.

I've been critiquing and editing for five years. I'm a published writer, fiction contest judge, and personal mentor. Most important, I'm a Christian lady who loves words, books, and most of all, the Book.

Hanne Moon

Collinsville MS

God has given me a love of the written word that has not diminished with time. Over the years I have continued to hone my craft, writing blogs, articles, ebooks and ghostwriting for publication. I love taking an author’s work and helping him (or her!) squeeze the utmost from their writing, preserving the voice and flavor of the piece but refining it so that the message comes through clearly and strong. Writing, proofreading, content editing, copy editing—I can help with any part of the writing process.

Jeanette Morris
First Impressions Writing Services
Atascadero, California

My career as a freelance editor began in 2003 when a friend asked me to help him write his first novel. Although I have a B.A. and M.A. in English, and have been writing, editing, and fine-tuning resumes, letters, proposals, and articles for more than twenty years, it was just a dream that editing could become a full-time occupation. My friend's need and the successful result showed me this could be more than a dream. I accept work in most genres as well as business and technical projects. I work on hard copy or electronic submissions and have a flexible fee schedule. My specialty: first-time authors.
