Violet (Vie) Herlocker
Fancy Gap, VA
I am a beginning-level editor and an intermediate-level nonfiction writer. Most of my published work has been as a ghostwriter/coauthor, although I have a few bylines of my own. My background in public education and my writing experience led to a co-written book with the CEO of an educational seminar and training company. That opened the door for me to work as an editor for educational experts who need books to support their speaking platforms. I consider my job more of a book doctor or (for those authors who want to learn how to write for publication) a “book mama.”

Michelle Horn
Pennsylvania
The most rewarding thing about editing is when someone
reads something I've done and says I've captured exactly what was meant. My
background is in corporate communications (marketing and advertising). I've
been proofreading and editing for over ten years. I do proofreading, copy
editing, substantive editing, and developmental editing on a variety of
subjects, including business communications, education, Christian spirituality,
inspirational biography, and general fiction. I respect the effort it takes to
write something for publication and enjoy helping someone put their best foot
forward.

Steve Hutson
From a very young age, I always wanted to be a writer.
But I didn't try to do anything professionally until 1998. Writing my book was
a grueling process. After attending a conference and sitting at the feet of a
couple of mentors, I began to get pretty good at it. After a few people in my
church asked for my advice in their writing, I established my own editing
service in the summer of 2005. Also, I serve as the assistant director of the Antelope Valley Christian Writers Conference.
