Microsoft Word Helps for Freelance Editors and Writers

This class will help you learn many built-in features of Microsoft Word that will make your job as a freelance editor or writer easier. Students will be taught how to customize Word to fit each task, get the most out of track changes, manage references, set up macros, and use templates and program add-ins. Class taught for Word 2007, but also covers many helps for Word 2003.

Instructor Judy Vandiver:

In the corporate world, part of my job included teaching coworkers new software packages. I’ve taken the time to search out many of Microsoft Word's built-in shortcuts that make repetitive tasks quicker, easier, and more accurate. I’ve talked to several experts in the Microsoft teaching field, and I’ve taken courses that explore these helps. My course is a summary and introduction to the shortcuts I found that especially help me with freelance editing and writing.
