This course is for anyone who'd like to establish a successful business as a freelance editor. It complements "Establishing Your Freelance Business" taught by Kathy Ide. Even if you missed Kathy's course, there is still lots to offer here. This program is designed to help editors view their work as a business, not a hobby, and act accordingly.
By taking this course and implementing its system, editors can:
1. Think strategically about their editing to increase productivity and make wise choices for non-editing endeavors. 2. Create marketing plans that are not project minded but career minded. 3. Begin to see how speaking, blogging, article writing, etc. between projects can help build your editing business. 4. Focus on where you are going, not where you are, to build to where you want to be.
Instructor Tiffany Colter has used her nine years as a business owner to develop this course. She is well known for her nonfiction writing as well as her Writing Career Coach Web site, blog, and audioblog, where she teaches principles of business development to individuals in the publishing industry. Tiffany believes in preaching what she practices and reaching out to mentor others further back on the path of business development. Send Tiffany an e-mail or visit her blog.
